Ok, so here's the short version...
Thursday Feb 7th, Tracy went in for her weekly checkup and her blood pressure was high, so the doc called me to take her to the hospital here in Sierra Vista for overnight tests. Then the doc decided to evac her by helicopter to Tucson Medical Center, saying she was probably bringing home a baby. She got on the chopper at 6:30pm, arriving at 7pm. I came home and packed for several days, setup the pets for our absence, and drove up, arriving just before 10pm.
Once I arrived they induced labor. By 2am on the 8th she was having contractions, and by 3am they were regular. At 8:30 am she was at 4cm & her water broke, and labor officially began. She had an epidural and for the next 7 1/2 hours it was me, her, and our nurse Shana (yay, Shana!). Around 4pm, Shana had her start pushing to see if the little guy was ready, and he was! Shana called the doc after about 20 minutes, Tracy waited while the doc pulled on her gloves, pushed two more times and Jordan Alexander Sledge Freeman arrived!
Let me just say, I don't watch E.R., and the "crowning" scene in "Knocked Up" was pretty icky, but when it's your own child, believe me, it doesn't matter. I was there the whole time, got to cut the cord, then walked the little guy over to the warmer. Mother & son were both fine.
Six pounds, one ounce, 19 inches long. He was born 33 days early! Because of Tracy's BP issues and Jordan's preemie status, we had to stay in the hospital until Tuesday the 12th, but now we're home and trying to figure out all the stuff in one day that we thought we'd have weeks to do! Trust me, if you're expecting, pack early - WAY early!
One pic here, and I've consolidated a few in the photo albums. Look for the "Jordan Freeman" link near the bottom. You can't see the photo albums if you're not a registered user and either a "Friend" or "Family." As for the name, we picked Jordan long ago and it would've worked even for a girl. Alexander was my neice Gina's idea, and Sledge is for my birth family.
